28-30 September 2012, in Kaunas (Lithuania), the II International Congress of Belarusian Studies took place. The Congress was attended by more than 350 researchers and guests not only from Belarus, but also from Kazakhstan, Lithuania, Poland, Russia, Ukraine and other countries. The numerous sections covered a wide range of topics – the history of Belarus, as well as its present and future. It’s safe to say that this 2nd Congress became a unique event in the field of Belarusian studies, it managed to gather such the number of researchers of Belarus with such the diversity of topics of the reports.
At the Congress, we presented the main results of the public initiative “Belarusian-American cultural dialogue,” information about our Intercultural Dialogue Center – the Institution “Intercultural Dialogue”, which caused the sincere interest of the listeners. Indisputable fact that the promotion of intercultural dialogue between Belarus and the United States is a useful thing to strengthen the position of the Belarusian culture in the world, contribute to the development of good neighborly relations and the enrichment of the Belarusian national cultural experience.
