The Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Europe and Eurasia Bridget Brink met with Belarusian education, science, culture, and sport representatives in the US Embassy in Minsk in November, 04. The Chargé D’affaires Ad Interim Mr. Scott M. Rauland and the representatives of the US Embassy in Minsk took part in the meeting.
Eight participants of different Exchange programs shared their views on using American experience in their own professional life.
Prof. Liubou Uladykouskaja represented Fulbright Program. She talked about lack of objective information about the US in Belarus as well as about necessity of the spreading positive knowledge about America by writing and publication of popular articles, books, etc. Besides, it’s important to develop American Studies in Belarus, at first, to organize the Forum for American Studies.
On the other hand, we should support persons and organizations that use the Belarusian language in their activity because in Belarusian situation Belarusian is not only the means for communication but also a way and a condition for Belarusian nation preservation, its subjectivity and independence. It’s impossible to build a dialogue with homeless, said Liubou Uladykouskaja.
