International Conference “Intercultural Dialogue: The Modern Paradigm and Experience of the Neighborhood”

On May 24, 2013 in Minsk the International conference “Intercultural Dialogue: The Modern Paradigm and Experience of the Neighborhood” was held. It was organized by the Institution “Intercultural Dialogue” together with the Polish Institute in Minsk and the National Institute of Management and Social Technologies of the BSU.

It has been the first conference in Belarus dedicated to the understanding of the phenomenon of intercultural dialogue.

The issues of a modern understanding of intercultural dialogue and forms of its practical implementation at the international, cross-border, regional and national levels were discussed by well-known scientists from Belarus, Poland and other countries, by eminent representatives of culture and education, priests, businessmen, representatives of diplomatic missions in the Republic of Belarus, universities and institutions, public associations.

Special interest and many questions of the participants was aroused by a profound statement of the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the State of Israel to Belarus Mr. Joseph Shagal, who thoroughly analyzed the practical importance of intercultural dialogue in modern geopolitics.

At the conference, the exhibition of Belarusian folk art “Breath of Time” (the art director – Natalia Kononovich) was held, which presented samples of traditional Belarusian arts and crafts. The string quartet of the Belarusian State Academy of Music (the art director – Lyudmila Antsikona Caballero) gave a perfomance.

The participants of the conference decided unanimously to hold such international meetings in Minsk at least annually.

The participants thanked the initiator of the conference Liubou Uladykouskaja for the welcome reception and good atmosphere, the opportunity of the participation.
